How to calculate the quantity of tiles needed

Figuring out how many tiles you need may seem tricky - but it's easy if you know where to begin.

What you will need:

  • A measuring tape
  • Pencil and Paper
  • A calculator to make things easy

On a piece of paper, draw a rough floor plan of each room that you want to tile. This doesn’t have to be to scale.

For odd shaped rooms, split it up into square or rectangle sections.

The next step is to measure the sides of each area - remember to use a consistant unit of measurement; we recommend using metres.

Multiply the width of the area by the length and you now know how many square metres of tiles you will require for the area!

Repeat these steps for each section and then add up each area for the total amount.

Finally, add an extra 10% on to make sure you have enough tiles to cover any breakages, or cuts you may have to make.
